Sound Anchor 801 Nautilus stands were designed for those of you who wish to extract all of the performance that The B&W 801 Nautilus speakers have to offer. This speaker is awesome on it's own but it can easily overload most rooms with it's deep powerful bass. Sound Anchors help to lessen the speaker to room interface problems which come up.

The most noticeable improvement that you will hear when you get your 801 Nautilus speakers off of the floor and onto Sound Anchor Stands is that your bass becomes  more tight, and more articulated. There are three reasons for this:
1. The bass driver is further from the floor. 2. A large part of the cabinet energy is absorbed by the mass of the stand and is not transmitted into the floor
3. The wave coming off the front baffle of the speaker  is disturbed so that the corner loading effect between the speaker and floor is reduced substantially

Mids and highs are also improved substantially when the speakers are elevated. This is partially due to the bass improvement but there are other reasons. With the speaker set up on the floor the tweeter and midrange are a little too low. Raising the speaker puts you bellow axis with the tweeter and more in line with the midrange driver. This presents a more musical balance between these two drivers.

The new Sound Anchor 801N stands incorporate several improvements over our earlier 801N Stands. The front support bar is now made of 1/2" thick steel bar. This provides a super sturdy and stable platform for your speakers. This front bar has two holes that will accept the front ball casters or optional B&W spikes. The rear of the stands have two heavy duty leveling pads to support and level the rear of the speakers.

Sound Anchor 801 Nautilus Stands can be set up three different ways. Three spikes four spikes or four casters. Setting the stand up with three spikes is the hi performance option. Mass loading and micro stability are always better on three points. If you are worried about large scale stability you may  want to set your speakers up on four spikes. We also recognize that you might not be able to place your speakers in the "best" position all of the time and will need to move your speakers. If this is the case you can put your stands on four casters with a slight performance penalty.

Sound Anchor 801N Stands come from the factory filled with our proprietary filling that has been optimized to eliminate unwanted resonance. You do not need to mess with sand or shot.
