Sound Anchor Adjustable Monitor Stands can now be fitted with special platforms. The two main purposes for these special platforms is to provide a more rigid shelf for the monitors and to allow the plates to be rotated 90 degrees for better speaker support when the stand is rotated.
The main benefit of the "R" platform over the standard platform is with speakers is rigidity. Additional rigidity will always improve the system by eliminating platform vibrations. Bottom end response is most improved but lesser improvements can also be heard throughout the spectrum. The "R" platform is also more efficient at transferring energy into the stand upright where the special filler materials can further reduce their sonic effects.
In addition to being more rigid these platforms are made so that the engineer may rotate the plate that the speaker actually sits on if he chooses. This allows the direction of the plates to be optimized for speakers that happen to be wider than they are deep. The engineer may also wish to rotate the plates when the stands are rotated to allow tilting the speakers. The "R" platforms allow a wider range of speakers and speaker placement options.
All of the original ability to adjust height and tilt has been maintained with the "R" platform
